REAL LIFE BRIDE

Alex & Tim

At Love Story London, we're so lucky to be part of our brides' most special moments, and Alex's journey is one we'll never forget.

After meeting through work in 2016, Alex and Tim's friendship quickly turned into a love story filled with travel, laughter, and nearly a decade of memories. A romantic proposal in Paris in 2025 marked the beginning of their next chapter, leading to a wedding day that was effortlessly elegant, deeply personal, and a true reflection of their love story.

Share Your Love Story

Tim and I met through work in 2016- we were both working on the Melbourne Cup Carnival and I was well out of my depth and he was the guy to provide all of the assistance and we struck up a work friendship. A year later, he was traveling to Europe with a mate and I was at home with a wine bottle with a cork and no corkscrew. I posted it to Facebook because that’s what we did back then and Tim responded with a YouTube link on how to remove a cork with nothing but a wall and a boot. We agreed to catch up when he got home and we had our first date over burgers and G&Ts and the rest is history. It’s been almost a decade filled with travel, home cooked meals (thank you Covid), laughs and memories that could fill a novel. We went to Europe in 2025 with our last stop being Paris and Tim, being the classic romantic he is, proposed in our hotel room a few days before we were due to fly home- he’d planned for something a little more French (Eiffel tower which was a bit of a nightmare for me!) but it was perfect, it was just us, in our hotel, after a huge day of exploring. And we had four days left to just enjoy it with the two of us before getting home and celebrating with family and friends. We picked the ring together at a beautiful jeweler in Paris, they had it in stock which was a miracle as a six week wait was a real downer, went for a gorgeous lunch afterwards and the celebrations continued. We have had a wonderful (almost) decade together, we’ve bought our forever home, dropped a couple of cats and have had the most incredible wedding to bring it all together and we can’t wait for what’s to come.

Style Of Your Wedding

We both work in events so we knew from the outset that we wanted to keep things as simple and stress free as possible. We originally talked about going to the registry but the list of people we would want there kept growing so we opted for a simple cocktail party with our closest friends and family - good food, good booze, good music and exceptional people. As it was a May wedding, we assumed the weather would be on the cooler side so went with more of a winter aesthetic with the deep reds and burgundy’s for the floral and we wanted a CBD venue to keep it as easy as possible for those we wanted there.

Venue Details

We love dining out on delicious food so it made perfect sense to have a restaurant as our venue and Hazel had the most incredible space that we fell in love with immediately. We always knew we loved the food and when we went for the site inspection, we could see our vision right there so knew it was perfect.

Finding The Dress...Was It Love At First Sight

I wanted to keep everything as low fuss as possible as I have planned many weddings and seen the stress build with the bride in particular, I didn’t want that for us. Ivory Thread, where I bought my dress, was a boutique at the top of the street that my gym was on. I would see it everyday when they made us go for a little run and when we got engaged, I knew that was where I wanted to go. I took my sister and sister in law with me and tried on a lot of dresses. I had an idea of what I wanted but didn’t love them when I popped them on. Then I tried on the Jett which was beautiful. It was hard to picture as the sample was quite a few sizes bigger than what I would need and I had made a decision to tweak it a little (remove the sleeves to add a small wrap-around piece of fabric across my arms), I was sold on this vision, and then I tried the dress on in my size after I’d bought it- thank goodness the alterations needed to be done after I’d picked up the dress because when I tried it on in my size, I was obsessed with the sleeves. They were so unique and perfect for a May wedding and I just loved everything about the dress. Could not wait to wear it!

Highlights Of Your Day

Our wedding was everything we wanted it to be, we truly would not have changed a thing. We stayed at the hotel the night before, night of and night after which was such a lovely way to extend the good times. We kept it all very casual in the lead up so we woke up together, had some breakfast and just hung out until my hair and makeup artist, Eloise, arrived at 2pm and then Tim went to a different room to get ready, my sister and sister in law came to mine and we just drank prosecco, listened to music and laughed together as I got ready.
We did all of our photos before the ceremony, including all of the family photos, because we wanted to be able to enjoy as much of the party as possible- we didn’t want to have to leave!
Our ceremony and reception were both held at Hazel, no need to move from venue to venue, we could really maximise the time we had to celebrate with our people. It was honestly perfection, exactly what we wanted for our day.

Your Words Of Wisdom To Future Brides

Do it the way YOU want to do it. Don’t include anything (or anyone!) just because you think you have to, or because it’s a tradition or a trend. We didn’t have a first dance, or a cake, or a bridal party and we have absolutely no regrets. The more elements there are, the more things there are that can cause you stress and that is not what you want when it’s all over in the blink of an eye. I am an event manager so I had an advantage knowing the ins and outs on planning but if you know you are likely to stress, either hire a planner or cut out the things that you truly don’t think will add to your day. Photos pre-ceremony was perfection too- I was overwhelmed after the family photos as there were a lot so having that out of the way meant I could really settle in and just enjoy the night. We didn’t have a videographer but we had an incredible content creator- I would recommend this to anyone. We got all of the raw footage that we can do whatever we want with, as well as six reels and, she (Emily) recorded all of our vows and speeches so we have those to listen to whenever we want which is great as I truly cannot remember the detail of any although I know I loved them at the time! This is such special content to have.
It’s also true when they say it all feels like a blur, it went far too quickly so I made the effort to write a journal of the whole weekend the following day so I could recall as much as possible!

Your Favourite Wedding Suppliers

Every single supplier we worked with added so much to our day, we are so lucky. Our celebrant, Sam (Youl Say I Do) was incredible, we had people asking us if we had a friend do the ceremony which is such a testament to how Sam operates. Our photographer, Jess (Carry Your Heart Photography) and content creator, Emily (Behind the Soiree) captured our day/night better than we ever could have imagined. Our florist Blooms By Cecilia NAILED the brief, I am obsessed with the flowers, they were all perfection. We also had candles provided by Carla Collectives and our awesome DJ, Henton was booked through Hey Jack and the team at Hazel took everything to the next level and we just had the best day ever, we would not have changed a thing and wish we could do it all over again a million times.
