REAL LIFE BRIDE

GEORGIE & LUKE

A 10 year love story with handwritten vows in Thorpe Garden

Share Your Love Story

At exactly 10 years prior to the day we got married, Luke asked me to be his girlfriend whilst we tucked into a picnic after a sunny walk. We had met each other 12 months prior at our job interview, and luckily, we both got the position! We went on many holidays and city breaks, enjoying the life of living at home and holidaying at every opportunity. Soon, we realized we wanted to embark on our next step and find a home of our own. This one was a huge project, and Luke found his love and passion for renovation, which he has developed into a career.

Luke has built the perfect home for us both, and we have grown our family to include Pablo the Shar-Pei, who we both adore. Not forgetting our love for holidaying, one trip to Marmaris created our best memories so far, where Luke got down on one knee and proposed whilst the sun set on the 26th of June 2022 - the best evening ever.

Fast forward to the best day of our lives, 10 years to the day we became BF&GF, we exchanged our personal handwritten vows and had the most joyful day getting married at Thorpe Garden, joined by our family and friends.

Style Of Your Wedding

A sunny spring, english garden wedding, joined by our family and close friends, creating a fun and relaxed vibe all day.

We were keen to play with soft pastel tones, boho features and have a mixture of florals to choose from to compliment our venue, which led us to grounded meadow floorscape, and individual bouquets for my bridesmaids matching their personality. The Groom requested the men to rock relaxed double breasted suits and Doc Martens. Our signage and logo was designed by our friends, who took inspiration from Thorpe Garden entrance gate. To create a warming vibe, we were accompanied by garden games, live music with a vibrant band including ‘bongos’ and a family friend serenading us over dinner with classics such as ‘Gangstas Paradise’ on the piano. Personal touch is our thing, and we managed to creep in elements of sentiment throughout the day, including ‘the wedding post’ whilst guests were seated, favours donated to charities close to our chest; CoppaFeel! and British Heart Foundation, portrait name cards created by my twin sister (and MOH) and a group sing-a-long before our many (7!) speeches to our favourite song ‘Crocodile Rock’. We ended our evening perfectly with stone baked pizza and s’mores over the fire pit, whilst admiring the Northern Lights which made an appearance.

Venue Details

Cripps & Co Thorpe Garden, Tamworth.

We both found the venue on ‘Hitched’ and the second we drove down the lane, we knew this was our venue. We fell in love with the gardens, the relaxed boho theme of the yurt and pavilion, and the key feature of the Wisteria Tunnel stole our hearts. Not to mention the food was incredible, and the staff matched the friendly and relaxed vibe.

Finding The Dress...Was It Love At First Sight

Yes! Within the Thorpe Estate is Cicily Bridal, a beautiful bridal boutique, which felt very calm and tranquil. As soon as I put the Cleo wedding dress on, I felt so confident and elegant.. I couldn’t believe it was me looking in the mirror! The ladies (Lisa & Victoria) paired me up with the bridal overskirt as I was after a ‘different, sleek but still minimal’ look, and I instantly fell in love. I’ll never forget that feeling.

Highlights Of Your Day

Joined by my Mom whilst getting ready and walking down the aisle with my dad was a dream come true - I adore them both and each special moment meant so much. Exchanging our personal vows, 10 years to the day, joined by our family and friends was so special and something I would absolutely recommend. It felt so much more ‘us’. I thoroughly enjoyed kicking off the speeches with my special thank you’s as a Mrs. Finally, walking in to our reception together to Barry White, and singing Crocodile Rock with our guests was something we will never forget, the energy and love we felt in the room was incredible.

Your Words Of Wisdom To Future Brides

100% plant a sausage the evening before if you are forecast uncertain weather - I am sure our lucky sausage gave us the Northen Lights! It was such a fun thing to do, and hilarious looking back. Also, I know everyone says this, but, allow yourself a lot of time whilst getting ready, it truly flies by, and the special moments that will occur are so rare, so take these in, as this truly is the best day of your life!
